Hi, we’re Kate and Paul. Welcome to our website. We live in Ramsgate, a beautiful seaside town on the South East coast of England. We are traditional artists working in oils, charcoal and pencil. We have over 30 years of experience working as artists, creating portraits of people, pets and illustrations for books and magazines. This website is dedicated to pet portraits and pet portrait commissions so please feel free to visit one of our galleries. In the past our works have been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition in Mall Galleries.

On Purely Pet Portraits you can find both oil paintings, pencil and charcoal drawings. Oil paintings are painted with Daler Rowney oil paints onto gessoed board. They are shipped securely packed in acid free paper, bubble wrap and - depending on the size - either cardboard boxes or wooden crates. Each painting is insured and arrives within a day in the UK (longer if sent overseas). Pencil drawings are done on white paper. Charcoal drawings are created with black and white charcoal pencils on grey toned paper. Charcoals are sealed with fixative and shipped securely packed in reinforced tubes. Like oil paintings charcoal and pencil drawings are also insured and sent with one day guaranteed delivery within the UK ( overseas takes longer).

'“If you are looking for a true likeness of your cat in a beautifully drawn portrait, then I would highly recommend Kate at Purely Pet Portraits.
I wanted a present for my partner of her beloved cat who had died, leaving a big gap in the home. I was concerned whether any artist would be able to capture the look, the detail and especially the character of Porky.
Having spoken with Kate, I sent her several photographs and she came back with three she thought suitable. She then sent me these with examples of how the charcoal drawing would look together with its grey background.
